CLC Cares is a ministry of Christ Lutheran Church that helps our congregation and community respond to practical needs close to home. We are beginning with a special focus on families and students connected with The Phoenix School in Crossville, while welcoming opportunities to help others in our area.
Click on "See Needs" to see needs shared through CarePortal. Browse the requests and use the CarePortal options to help others in our area. You can use a credit card to donate online. Your generous donation posts to a dedicated Christ Lutheran Church account.
You can also meet needs though the regular church offering by writing "CLC Cares" and an amount on an offering envelope.
Please reach us at info@christlutheranffg.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

CarePortal authorizes and vets legitimate governmental and non-governmental entities to be the entry point of needs, primarily around the notion of helping families and keeping them together. Christ Lutheran Church (CLC) has chosen to serve the local community at the launch of the CLC Cares ministry, and that translates to seeing/serving needs within a 30 mile radius of Fairfield Glade.
No. As of this writing, there are 5 churches in our service area, and another 5 in the Nashville area. Any of which can allocate funds to help another church that “Takes the lead” on servicing a request. And in fact, another church has already helped CLC do just that.
Make checks payable to Christ Lutheran Church and write "CLC Cares" in the memo line. Use an offering envelope and write “CLC Cares” with an amount on the envelope and place cash or check in the regular offering plate.
Yes, click the “See Needs” button at the top. On the CarePortal page that opens, click the green “Give To Our CarePortal Fund” button.
It depends…
Yes, if you create an account on CarePortal. Creating an account is free. Click the “See Needs” button at the top. Then on CarePortal, click “Login or Sign Up”. Once viewing a request’s details, you can click the “Yes I Can Help” button, and then the green “Fund” button to give online using a credit card.
No, if you donate “as guest” on CarePortal, which is an option, if you do not want to create an account. In that case, your donation goes into CLC’s pooled CarePortal account.
And finally, no, not if you donate cash or checks. In that case, CLC Cares targeted funds will be sent to the CLC CarePortal account monthly by church accounting. CLC members designated as “Connecting Church Leaders” within CarePortal (currently Chuck and Christine Benedict) will curate and designate pooled funds toward local needs.
Cash and checks are sent monthly by CLC accounting to the CLC CarePortal pooled fund. Online gifts donated as a guest via credit card go to the church's CarePortal pooled fund. Online gifts designated to a particular request are associated to your CarePortal account but allocated to the request. A church that “Takes the Lead” on the request gains access to the funds.
CLC members designated as “Connecting Church Leaders”, that have been authorized to have a CarePortal debit card, can use pooled and allocated funds (for which we have “Taken the Lead”) to satisfy requests. All purchases are tracked on the CarePortal web site.
In many cases, yes. We ask that you create an account on CarePortal. Click “See Needs” above, then click “Login or Sign Up” on CarePortal. Find the request for which you can fill with an item you have or can arrange. Click “Yes I Can Help” button. Then click “Provide”. A connecting church leader will be notified and will then contact you with further information.

Each week, the bulletin carries a "Met a need" item where Christ Lutheran Church took the lead to deliver on a need, if one was met in the week prior.
No, not to give by card, if you are ok with your donation being pooled in the church’s CarePortal giving account. CarePortal's giving form offers "Continue as Guest" and asks for name, email, amount and card.
And likewise, no, you do not need a CarePortal account to give through the offering.
CarePortal's form says it collects your name and email to send a tax receipt. For gifts made through the offering, the church will continue to provide a tax form for those donations. You will not get a consolidated tax form combining donations made to CarePortal and donations made through the offering.
CarePortal donation forms have a "Make my donation anonymous" option. Your name and email address, which are still required (for tax and credit card authorization purposes) at a minimum, but will not post for that donation to CarePortal activity feeds.
When CLC takes the lead on a request, money pledged to the request is released to CLC’s CarePortal account, which enables connecting church leaders authorized to use the church’s CarePortal Visa card to purchase items or services to fill the need.
There may be cases where we are able to find businesses or charities that are willing to provide services or items in-kind. In such a case, CLC may use those funds you designated for one request to fund another request through CarePortal.
